  • What is Biogas?
Biogas is a renewable form of energy that is produced through the breakdown of organic matter by bacteria in the absence of Oxygen, a process known as anaerobic digestion. It is primarily composed of Methane (CH4) 60% and Carbon Dioxide (CO2), along with trace amounts of other gases such as Nitrogen, Hydrogen Sulfide, and water vapor. Biogas is a flammable gas that creates a blue flame when burned. One of the significant advantages of Biogas is its renewable nature. It is produced from organic waste materials that would otherwise decompose and release Methane, a potent greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere.
  • What is the process by which Biogas is created?
Biogas is created through a natural biological process called anaerobic digestion. The process involves the breakdown of organic materials in the absence of Oxygen by a consortium of microorganisms, primarily bacteria, in an Oxygen-free environment such as a Biogas plant or digester.
  • Can one person assemble the Biodigester?
Yes, the Biodigester is designed as a DIY product to be assemble by one or two people. Every system comes with a detailed manual that explains every step of the assembly. Same thing about the assembly of the BioWC, its a one person job but always better to do it together.
  • What does it mean to activate the Biodigester?
Activating the Biodigester refers to the initial startup process of a Biodigester, where the necessary microorganisms and conditions are established to initiate the anaerobic digestion process. The activation stage is crucial for establishing a healthy and productive system. By using fresh herbivore’s manure (cow, horse, pig etc...) we let in the productive microorganisms to the Biodigester and by that start the process of A proliferation of beneficial bacteria. We recommend using cow manure for the fast results . The activation in 4 easy steps: 1) Fill the Biodigester with water until they go out from the fertilizer outlet. 2) Wait 24 hours and check if there are any leaks. 3) Add the fresh slurry (manure mixed with water) in the right amount as explained in the manual. 4) Wait for 1-3 weeks for the process to complete. In order for the process to be carried out correctly, it must be carried out when it is at least 25°C (77°F).
  • Is cooking on Biogas safe?
Yes, cooking on biogas is safe when proper precautions are taken. Biogas is commonly used for cooking purposes in many households and communities around the world. Biogas burns cleanly and efficiently when used in well-designed and properly maintained cooking appliances.
  • Can the biodigester explode due to biogas?
Low Risk of Explosions: Biogas is typically composed of Methane and Carbon Dioxide, with Methane being the primary component. At the moment Methane is exposed to air he loses its ability to ignite because of his light weight . Also unlike other flammable gases such as Propane or Butane, Biogas has a higher ignition point, making it less prone to accidental explosions. However, it's always essential to handle and use Biogas with caution.
  • What is the best location to place the Biodigester?
The Biodigester only can be placed outdoors where it can get as much direct sunlight (to improve the efficiency of producing gas), on a level and stable ground (not wood structure) far from any obstructions. Also it is important to Leave a clearance of at least 0.5 meters on each side of the Biodigester. This clearance provides unobstructed access to the system, allowing for easy monitoring, maintenance, and servicing. Biogas stove: The distance from the Biodigester to the stove: Biodigester 2.0 can be up to 10 meters from the stove while Biodigester 4.0&7.0 can be up to 18 meters from the stove. BioWC: The distance from the Biodigester needs to locate the BioWC: – If the toilet bowl and the Biodigester are at the same height- up to 5 meters. – If there is a 1-meter difference between the toilet bowl and the Biodigester- up to 10 meters. In cold areas or where the winters are cold we recommend using an insulated floor under the Biodigester.
  • What are the best conditions for the Biodigester?
To achieve successful digestion in the biodigester, certain essential conditions must be met: Temperature: An average day/night temperature of at least 20°C (68°F). The microorganisms responsible for the anaerobic digestion process thrive in this temperature range.s Organic matter input: It is crucial not to exceed the maximum daily input of organic matter recommended for the Biodigester. Overloading the system can lead to imbalances in the digestion process, affecting the efficiency and performance of the Biodigester. PH control: Maintain the system PH within the optimal range for anaerobic digestion. The PH level plays a significant role in supporting the activity of the microorganisms involved in the process.
  • What are the steps i need to consider during the winter or if i live in a colder place?
The microorganisms responsible for the anaerobic digestion process thrive in average temperature day/night of at least 20°C (68°F). If you live in a place where the temperature gets to 0°C and below, drain your system at least 200 liters of liquid and do not feed the Biodigester at all. If you live in a place where the temperature is regularly below 10°C (50°F), we do not recommend using our Biodigesters. For the colder months we recommend to complete at least one of the following steps: This is a step that can only be done during installation, placing an insulated floor under the Biodigester will help insulate the system from the cold temperature from the ground. Build a greenhouse around the Biodigester that is open on the top. Feed the Biodigester half of the regular amount. Add an electric heater to the Biodigester.
  • Can the Biodigester connect to an existing pipe system? or to a compressor/generator?
No, you need to install for the Biodigester his own pipe system. You cannot mix gases with connecting to an existing pipe system. Also compressing the biogas is a complex process that needs an understanding of the behavior of the biogas components, so if you decide to do that please do good homework and treat the process carefully and seriously.
  • Can i exchange my counter-top stove? can it connect to another gas device?
The Biodigester kit is already providing a counter-top stove that is included in the price. Yet it can be connected to another stove or even other gas devices that are adjusted to the Biogas characters such as: water heater, heater stoves and more. But there are several simple adjustments that need to be done, for more information contact us and we will be glad to get you through the process.
  • Can I connect another gas bag to the Biodigester?
Absolutely yes, you can connect one or even two gas bags to the Biodigester and through that increase your storage capabilities. But don't get confused that doesn't say you can feed the Biodigester with more organic waste.
  • What maintenance does the Biodigester require?
There is nearly no maintenance needed, as the only thing needed to do is a filter change once in some months depending on the Biodigester model: Biodigester 2.0: every 6 months Biodigester 4.0: every 3 months Biodigester 7.0: every 2 months The Biodigester does not need any cleaning at all, so do waste your effort and time.
  • Does the Biodigester smell bad?
The Biodigester does not produce any odors due to the active carbon filters ability to treat unpleasant odors and other gases. We must point out that you will probably experience a somewhat unpleasant smell in cases where you feed the system with organic waste.
  • What if my Biodigester produces more gas than I am using?
If you produce more gas than you use, then the excess gas from the gas bag will be automatically released into the atmosphere by our built-in designed pressure-release valve.
  • What will happen if i feed the Biodigester with more than the recommended amount?
Feeding the Biodigester more waste than the bacteria is capable of digesting will cause a significant slowdown in the gas production process and descreas of the PH level. So we recommend to follow the instruction in the manual and fed the Biodigester according to his model.
  • What is the daily Biogas output of the different models?
Biodigester 2.0: 600L that are equal to 2 hours cooking on a single burner. Biodigester 4.0: 1200L that are equal to 3 hours cooking on a double burner. Biodigester 7.0: 2500L that are equal to 6 hours cooking on a double burner.
  • How to use the Bio fertilizer?
The Bio-fertilizer is the liquid that spills from the fertilizer output and it should be diluted 3:1 before use direct on plants, simply mix 3 liters of water with 1 liter of the Bio-Fertilizer. there are several ways to use our Bio-fertilizer: Before planting: watering the soil with the Bio-Fertilizer about a month before planting will enrich the soil and give it a boost. After planting: watering the garden with the Bio-Fertilizer up to 3 times a week will keep your plants healthy. On your compost pile: As the water source to increase the humidity which will speed up the composting process and add nutrients to the compost.
  • Does the Bio-Fertilizer have nutrients? An expiry date?
Sure thing, the Bio-fertilizer includes 16 essential nutrients; Macro-nutrients like the important NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) and Micro-nutrients like Manganese, Iron, Boron and more. There is no specific expiration date, but as in most of the ecological products there is a decrease in available nutrients that form in the Biodigester, so it is better to use as soon as possible.
  • How should the effluent from the BioWC be treated?
When the Biodigester is fed with human waste, the effluent that comes out of the outlet fertilizer cannot be used as we seguetead to use before the Bio-fertilizer. Instead there are several options for the effluent’s treatment, that should all take into account considering the infrastructures that already exist in there house/farm: Connecting to the sewage system Connecting to a septic tank Treating in a drain-field or mulch basin, for the remote farm that don't have any of the above and don't want to spend and to work too hard we recommend this mulch basin technique.
  • Can i feed the BioWC with human and organic waste?
Yes, just like any normal toilet, the BioWC can be fed with human waste (with urine). In addition Biodigester 2.0 can be fed 6 Litter of organic waste and up to 25 flushes per day. don't forget BioWC cannot be fed with toilet paper and certainly not wipes.
